Spooky Level Design

I'd like to first start off by saying that I really enjoyed this project/assignment and have sent a lot of time on it as well as helped other to complete their work. The point of the assignment was to set up two cut-scenes, add some animations on to some of the allies/enemies, and connect it all together using Kismet (ex. If you step in this trigger, do this, etc.). Here are some screenshots of some parts of my level. I wasn't able to capture it in video, so this is the best I can do for you.

Overview of level.
What the player will see after the first cut-scene.

Broken down ship to show that you have just crash landed.

Spooky path with custom particle effect.

Where the player must go in order to progress.

What's this, a secret area?

Yep, secret area including a dancing NPC you can talk to.

Part of the first cut-scene that does a fly-through of the level.

After defeating the enemy that spawns, the back gate opens. (Not sure why the materials wasn't saving properly, so that's why you see a blue/white pattern. It was fine for my final hand in, and while I'm in editor mode. Odd.)

Walk to the newly opened gate and you're greeted by this message.

Cube Obstacle Layout - Final

After completing the block out, I fixed some timing and curves. This is the final pass.

Blending Different Cycles

This is to show the blends between my idle, walk, run and jump cycles, then doing it again in reverse.

Tied Log Walls

Also for the project I was working on, but also too high-poly. A couple of different wooden walls to make it look like it wasn't repeating too much.

Crane Model

I really do love the way this turned out. It was supposed to be used for something other than my portfolio but it was too high-poly.

Quick Portal Turret Model

I haven't modeled anything in a long time, so I thought I would quickly make something this morning before class. What do you think? Yes, the sides do open and close.

25 Hour Gaming For Charity, For Sick Kids

Extra Life logo is trademarked by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

I made this poster to advertise that I will be gaming for 25 hours, for charity. All donations go to Sick Hospital Toronto. Currently, I am at 70% of my goal. If you want to donate, that would be totally groovy. Once the goal is met, you can watch me for 25 hours playing video games and fighting to stay awake. Normally, the event happens in November, but due to my school schedule, this works a little bit better for me.

'Old Viking' Animation Sheet

As a separate project, I made an animation sheet for the 'Old Viking'. As a bonus, I made a couple of my favourite ones in to .gifs below. I had a lot of fun with this one.

'Old Viking' Concepts For Game

The images below are for a game I will be creating, called 'Old Viking' (title pending).

Tommy the Cube Has Found Another Ball!

He's back again, and this time Tommy finds a new ball.

Delayed Postings

Sorry, everyone about my absence. School has just started back up and I've been quite busy with the assignments. I am taking seven courses this semester, so I only have to take five in the second semester. On the bright side, since school is back you'll be able to see more of my work. Fasten your seat belts!

Phone Contact Photos

I got bored of the normal contact photos I had for some people so I decided to make some. So far I've only done myself plus one other friend.

Concept Vehicle Matte Painting

Final matte painting with one of my vehicle concepts. To make this image, I took photos of building in Toronto and pieced them together. The buildings on the left, center and right are all separate images. After making the background the way I wanted, I dropped one of my car concepts into the scene. To make the car and background work together, I pulled colours from the surround area and threw them on the car.

UPDATED 'Tommy the Box' Makes A Leap!

Here's 'Tommy', he's a box. Man this box loves him some candy. He thinks he see a piece on the ground, gets excited and jumps down. He has a closer look but sadly it's just a rock.

The rigs were provided by my professor, Jakub Pazera.

Life Drawing from March 12th, 2013

Same person, but in different poses. Given 10-15 minutes per render.
Was trying to keep it very abstract.

Closer view of shoulders and above, with colour. Given 20 minutes for render.

Exterior and Interior of Futuristic Base PROCESS WORK

Below is a series of images I took while completing a project for class. This concept work is based on a story that was provided in class and you had to come up with the design.

1. Laying out the framework.

2. Added graphite pencil.

3. Exterior's first pass on marker rendering.

4. Grayscaled the building and added a swatch.

5. First pass on interior.

6. Added shadows to make things pop.

7. Added a broken down tank in foreground and cleaned up areas.

8. Added the rest of the grayscale and swatch.

9. Profit.

Male/Female Muscular Figure

On the left is the male muscular figure, and on the right is the female.

'The Last Hope' Painting

This painting I made last year called 'The Last Hope'. My idea for the painting was to have someone (or something) save the last plant on a far away planet from destruction. I ended up with this design of a superhero type person saving this plant. To make it, I used the primary, secondary and tertiary colours from the colour wheel and worked in some different textures. For example, the meteor is made from some paper that I folded and scrunched many times, glued it to the board and painted over it.

Mega Run Digital Painting

This digital painting is based for the game of side-scrolling game, Mega Run. I wanted to keep the likeness of it, but give you a different view on the action. I re-created everything in this scene myself, just based it on existing elements from the game.
